Consensus Decision Making and Facilitation 101 (with Sarah Scanlon)
June 23, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
As we fight for non-capitalistic, non-coercive, and non- hierarchical communities, we often forget to model the world we want to see in our own group interactions. Being able to guide and participate effectively in a group decision-making progress is an important tool for facilitators, group members, and the revolution. In this workshop we will discuss power within group dynamics, ways to take into account all opinions and concerns, building on each others ideas, active listening, and creative and dynamic ways of reaching agreements. The goal is for everyone to leave the workshop with an understanding of inclusive participatory style decision making that will strengthen the way our meetings and discussions function.
Sarah Scanlon is a cis- queer, feminist, anarchist settler. She has sat through a lot of really unproductive and frustrating activist organizing meetings. She likes to run workshops that provide tools for folks on making communication and leadership strategies within the revolution stronger and to gain new perspective’s from those attending. Sarah also really likes deep lunging.
