Edible & Medicinal Wild Plants workshop
May 23, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
This Saturday May 23, longtime wildcrafter and folk herbalist Matt Soltys will be leading a workshop on edible and medicinal wild plants. He will be sharing botanical knowledge and herbalism know-how that he puts to use to feed and heal his own family of four.
“Wild plants, many of them regarded as weeds, are often the best sources of nutritious food and simple remedies for common ailments,” Matt says. “Knowing how to identify and use the common plants growing around our neighbourhoods is a free and empowering way to stay healthy.”
Sponsored by Transition Guelph, the workshop begins near the Ukrainian church at 115 York Road, and proceeds along the Eramosa River. Participants will learn how to safely identify plants that are good to eat, and how to prepare herbal teas, tinctures, and salves.
The walk takes place on Saturday May 23, from 2 to 4 pm. The cost is $10 or pay what you can. All ages are welcome. For more information, please contact Matt at Matt@HealingTheEarthPress.org.
