Local Storytelling for Radio (Workshop)

May 10, 2014 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

On May 10, Mark Conrad from CFRU’s award winning program Pioneer Radio (and now working on the development of a new show called Speed River Delta) will be hosting a seminar workshop on local storytelling! The event will runfrom 2 to 5 pm in the CSA Boardroom (at the other end of the hall from CFRU).

Here’s a short promotional message from Mark about the seminar:

Working With Stories and the Work Stories Do
Radio is a powerful, flexible storytelling medium. And working creatively with stories, shaping them, making them broadcast-worthy, is a lot of fun. It also calls for great care. This is perhaps even more the case with local storytelling, in which speakers, listeners, and producers are all neighbours. This hands-on, interactive seminar is about how we as radio folk might do local storytelling with care and creativity, in part by remaining mindful of the important work stories accomplish in our daily lives, and the ways in which stories do this work.
