The Lost Art of Canning – CANCELLED

13927529_mExplore the art of canning in this hands on and interactive workshop. You’ll walk away feeling confident water bath canning at home. Learn to simply and safely stock your pantry with beautiful, delicious treats to enjoy long after the season has passed. Save money while providing quality food to your friends and family

This workshop will explore:
  •    how to get started
  •    a comprehensive look at what is water bath canning and how it works
  •    the important “technical stuff”

You’ll get:

  • hands on experience
  • finished product to take home
  • recipes and notes
  • samples of our canned goods
  • You’ll make a pickle, a jam, and a jelly using pomona’s pectin

When: Saturday, September 20th from 10am-1pm

Where: Wellington County Museam, 0536 Wellington Road 18, Elora, ON N1M 2W3

Cost: $70 includes finished product to take home, recipes, and samples

Please Bring: A light snack/lunch as the workshop will be taking place over the lunch hour.

Val Andrews, of The Harvest Pantry , is a culinary professional bringing over 25 years experience to her art. She has worked as a food service manager, culinary instructor, recipe developer, caterer and farmers market stall operator. She is dedicated to the use of local organic ingredients and creating a dining experience that is not only delicious but health giving and memorable. For Val, good food, whether you are growing it, preparing it or eating it is the foundation for forging strong joyful relationships and building community. Val has been preserving and fermenting foods since her childhood. She has a unique gift at making her students feel confident and empowered to take these ‘hands on skills’ home and put them into practice.
