November 6, 2014 @ 6:30 pm - November 8, 2014 @ 5:30 pm

Inner Transition Guelph is thrilled to be bringing Gina Cenciose, one of North America’s top teacher/trainers in Non-Violent Communication, and her partner/assistant Norman Pasewalk, to Guelph!

Join us for three days of in depth experiential learning and practice in NVC, with a focus on the part NVC plays in peacemaking within ourselves, our families and relationships, at work, and in building a locally sustainable and socially just community!

Thursday, November 6, 6:30 – 9:00pm “What is Non-Violent Communication?”

Register online:

(FREE, Donations gratefully accepted)

At this open, public event , Gina will give us an overview of the model of NVC as developed over 35 years by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg  We will learn how NVC helps us to:

  • develop honesty and empathy inside of ourselves and in our relationships
  • identify the destructive ways of thinking and speaking that characterize the downward spiral into conflict and disconnection
  • learn new ways of thinking and speaking that lead towards connection and growth in relationship to ourselves and others
  • recognize and value the needs behind all our actions
  • embody the presence, authenticity, and self-responsibility that nurtures peace, healing, self-empowerment, and social change.

This event can be attended on its own, or as the introduction to Friday or Saturday’s day-long workshops.

Friday, November 7, 9:30 am – 5:00 pm  “NVC and Inner Relationship Focusing”

Register Online:

At this experiential workshop, we will learn essential tools for embodying empathy:

  • Moment by moment mindfulness and empathetic presence to whatever is blocking our path to action, taking away our energy, and stopping us from embodying our ideals and values.
  • Moment by moment self-responsibility, and living from wholeness rather than lack.

There is a deep inner knowing, a wisdom in our body-mind which we’ve learned to ignore in our modern, fast-paced, head-oriented, consumer culture.  At this workshop, Gina will guide us in a process of listening to our bodies in a gentle and accepting way, and hearing the messages that our inner selves are sending us.  As we learn to listen to and understand ourselves better, we not only feel better; but also act in ways that are more likely to create the life, relationships, community, and the world we want.

Saturday, November 8, 9:30 am-5:00 pm “NVC, Peacemaking and Social Change in Practice”

Register online:

For most of us, it’s in those difficult moments -in a conflict, or in an argument- when it’s clear how our communication habits can keep us from the relationships, and consequently, the world we really want.  We simply haven’t been taught the effective communication skills, emotional vocabulary, or self-awareness needed to get “unstuck” in those challenging moments, or to prevent those moments from happening in the first place.

Imagine having the skills to transform those conflicts into opportunities for peacemaking, deepening connection and growth!

Imagine embodying the change you want to see in the world!

At this workshop, Gina will guide us in the one key principle of NVC essential to peacemaking and social change: whatever the circumstances, no matter what else is going on, we are committed to caring for the wellbeing of all.

We will learn to apply our hearts, focus our consciousness, and bring active attention to transcending and transforming fear and judgement. We will excavate underneath our habits to understand our needs, so we can know what longings, dreams, and values inform our reactions to others.  As Gina explains, “This allows us to reach for and maintain an open heart to the needs of another.  When we hear others with full empathic presence, their core, their irreducible humanity shines forth.  I think of this quality of pratical open-heartedness, of caring for the well-being of someone regardless of her or his actions, as an essential ingredient of the love I want to live in the world.”
