Treemobile 2016: Sorting!

May 14, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

TreeMobile is a working group of Transition Guelph. It is a project designed to increase resiliency and reduce carbon emissions in Guelph by increase the tree canopy (since trees absorb carbon as they grow). We aim to increase local food yields thereby reducing the average food miles for people in our city. It’s the best! It’s also not-for-profit and it’s volunteer-powered. TreeMobile delivers food-bearing trees and plants to people’s yards. Trees and plants are sold at just-over-cost and come with volunteer planters for those who need help in planting.

THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN! If you’d like to help plant, you can sign up to volunteer at: http: //www.transitiontreemobile.org/volunteer/ as soon as possible.

We need folks to help sort and label trees/plants that have been ordered on Saturday, May 14 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the (GCUOF) Guelph Centre for Urban Organic Farming (at College Avenue East and Dundas Lane on the U of G campus). A light lunch will be provided to volunteers.

AND We need volunteer planters for Sunday, May 15 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. You will be working in teams to deliver and plant in the Guelph area. A tree-planting demo will be the first order of the day, so you don’t have to be an expert to participate, just willing to get your hands dirty. The day will start and end at GCUOF where a light lunch will be provided with an opportunity for debriefing and suggestions.

Our hope is to have someone with a videocamera to make a video of both sorting and planting activities. If you are available, please let us know and join the fun.

If you have questions, contact Jill Gill at peter.gill@sympatico.ca for more details.
