Urban Food Tour
July 16, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Transition Guelph’s Urban Food Working Group is presenting a half-day, free, self-guided tour of urban farms and gardens. The Urban Farm Tour will include 15 farms and gardens of all shapes and sizes, including community gardens, home gardens, and actual farms.
Communities all over the world are slowly building sustainable food systems that are more equitable and ecologically sound. The Urban Farm Tour is meant to highlight the many ways in which we can grow food in the city and inspire those that tour the gardens to try to grow something themselves. Many gardeners and farmers will be available to answer questions and impart their knowledge about how to grow delicious, healthy food.
Learn how to grow diverse crops, keep chickens and bees, use permaculture methods in urban areas, harvest rainwater, make compost, and much more.
