Appleseed Collective makes use of the abundant food sources in our own community, picking un-used fruit and nuts from privately owned fruit trees and bushes, mostly in and around the city of Guelph.
Tree owners contact us when their fruit is ready, and we contact our volunteer list to organize harvests. One third of the yield is offered to the tree owner, one third is taken to a community group, and the volunteer gets a third.
Appleseed Collective is always looking to expand our database of trees, volunteers, and recipient organizations. We invite members of the public with fruit or nut trees – or vegetables – that could be harvested and shared to contact us.
