One of the core concepts of the Transition Movement is food security.


We highly recommend creating a plan to increase your reliance on local food. Going local will increase food security for your family and for the community. Our Family Food Action Plan is a resource that we have created to help your family transition to eating more local food.


For instance, if you’ve never had your own vegetable garden – you can start planning to have one next year! Even a small one can produce a lot of food. If you already have a veggie patch, consider expanding it next season, or try adding something different to the garden, like fruit trees! You’ll get to eat more of your own produce, store some for the winter and share with your family, friends and neighbours.
